AI-Driven Clinker Reduction through Raw Material Optimization

"Synchronizing with the alcemy algorithm has ensured maximum savings in the clinker factor without compromising our quality standards."
— Quality Control Manager, Seza Çimento
Key Results
Seza Çimento partnered with alcemy in 2025 to bring machine-learning-based quality control into its cement operations. This collaboration marked the first time alcemy directly implemented live “clinker steering,” an approach that has since gone into operation with additional clients. Following the kickoff, Seza began systematically collecting XRD data, which had never been utilized previously for cement, and added active PSD measurement to feed alcemy’s models. With a daily prediction mode based on XRF and sieve (PSD) models, the quality team shifted to fineness steering: instead of adding clinker, they achieved target strengths by grinding finer. The team steadily reduced clinker content by switching between recipe steering and fineness steering. Whenever Seza chose to prioritize higher throughput instead of lowering clinker, the system flexibly supported that choice.
Over the first five months, the validated results confirmed significant savings. The savings were driven by precise control of clinker and limestone content, while fully maintaining compliance with cement strength classes. The production volume was calculated confidentially as a 6.5 x Return on Investment.
The collaborative model, combining Seza's operational expertise with alcemy's algorithmic precision, sets the trajectory for long-term sustainable operations and even greater clinker optimization across the company's cement portfolio. The priority remains substituting clinker with limestone, with potential savings roughly exceeding 1 million annually.
